Another exiting Grand Prix in Formula 1 this weekend. The race started with the track split between very wet sections and some dry patches making it very challenging for both the drivers and the engineers. Ferrari continued to improve overall with Alonso winning but not without a little luck as Red Bull released Vettel from the pits after over 20 seconds trying to tighten a rear left wheel nut. He seemed to struggle after that and was even challenged by team mate Mark Webber who was told to keep his distance and not try to overtake with two laps to go.
Both McLaren cars were doing very well until a mechanical blunder caused Jenson Button to retire after he was released from the pits with no wheel nut on his front right wheel. Check out the video below which shows the wheel about to fall off as he is driving out of the pits:
Hamilton was also effected by a poor fueling decision which did not anticipate Hamilton's pace for the race. He was told to slow down to conserve fuel and had to fight off Massa for 4th place in the closing laps. Massa got close enough in the last lap:
Both Lotus cars retired early in the race, which was disappointing for the Silverstone crowd. Michael Schumacher had a great race and did really well to finish 9th after a crash with Kobyashi left him in 20th position. Overall it was a great race. Lets hope the German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring is as exciting. Vettel will want to make an impression in front of the home crowd, Schumacher will want a result too. The Ferrari cars are improving, McLaren performed well this weekend and who knows what might have happened without the small mistakes. The next one should be a cracker!
